Ken and Linda Linda's love and pride of the neighbourhood in which they live has devoted them to active involvement in their community. Linda worked tirelessly with the Heights Neighbourhood Association, being on the board of directors from 1992 to 1999. The Heights Neighbourhood Association is a non-profit group made up of Heights residents who are involved in many important
community activities such as:
- Raising money for neighborhood schools
- Blockwatch
- Sunfest summer rec program for kids
- Community policing
- After-school programs for teens
- Organization of the annual Hat's Off Day Parade
- Facilitating forums on neighbourhood and political issues
Linda also organized a Heights Heritage Home Tour for three years and a Garden Tour of the area to increase awareness in heritage preservation. Linda's love of heritage homes also led her to an appointment with the City of Burnaby's Community Heritage Commission.
Blessed with a wonderful family, Ken and Linda are active participating members
of their children's school and church-related activities, including fund-raising,
canvassing and teaching Sunday school to young children.
Ken and Linda have also helped to organize and participate in one of the few remaining
parades in the lower mainland. The Hat's Off Day Parade in THE HEIGHTS draws crowds of
up to 20,000 people every June, celebrating the wonderful relationship between The Heights
merchants, the community schools, and the neighbourhood.
Did you know? Ken and Linda personally support the Children's Miracle Network, donating a portion of their commissions. In British Columbia, monies raised goes directly to BC Children's Hospital.
